Notebook or Netbook

The new craze for tech savvy these days is netbooks....

Analyzing the market today where the tech users are young and more into internet browsing....netbooks will have the upper hand against the notebook. Netbooks are for portability. With the availability of 3G and wireless internet shops/area, young people tend to wanna carry something light yet capable of internet browsing. This internet browsing addiction is due to the rise of social networks...by that we mean Friendster, Multiply, MySpace, Facebook, and a lot more...

Though some cellular phones are capable of internet functions, it is far better to browse the internet which has a capability of the notebook yet very light and portable.

Notebook has functions that are mostly use for office task and higher end programs. With the speeds of PC going faster and faster, notebooks will be the main portable device for office/business use. Netbooks on the other hand will serve the needs of Internet Junkies.

Features and benefits
Go to the next level of multi-core performance.

Intel Core i7 processors deliver an incredible breakthrough in quad-core performance and feature the latest innovations in processor technologies:

Intel® Turbo Boost technology maximizes speed for demanding applications, dynamically accelerating performance to match your workload—more performance when you need it the most.²

Intel® Hyper-Threading technology enables highly threaded applications to get more work done in parallel. With 8 threads available to the operating system, multi-tasking becomes even easier.³

Intel® Smart Cache provides a higher-performance, more efficient cache subsystem. Optimized for industry leading multi-threaded games.

Intel® QuickPath Interconnect is designed for increased bandwidth and low latency. It can achieve data transfer speeds as high as 25.6 GB/sec with the Extreme Edition processor.

Integrated memory controller enables three channels of DDR3 1066 MHz memory, resulting in up to 25.6 GB/sec memory bandwidth. This memory controller's lower latency and higher memory bandwidth delivers amazing performance for data-intensive applications.

Intel® HD Boost significantly improves a broad range of multimedia and compute-intensive applications. The 128-bit SSE instructions are issued at a throughput rate of one per clock cycle, allowing a new level of processing efficiency with SSE4 optimized applications.

I believe this is the series of Quad core after Core2 duo. Have not seen any PC or laptop with this processor lately. IF you had a chance to see one would appreciate if you can leave a comment on the new product.

My Asus....

Finally bought my new laptop after about two years of using my old and handy dandy Neo Laptop. I was canvassing for the past 6 months because I know laptops these days easily change and daily updates and upgrades are popping out.

I was torn between an Acer laptop and a HP laptop. Acer has just been new to my consideration list. Most of my preferences would be HP due to the fact that my former IT manager when I was still working with Orica Philippines suggest that capability and service wise, HP is the good choice than Toshiba and IBM. And so I shop around the limited computer retailers and shops here in Guam for the best price and got a glimpse of an Acer with the so good features I wanted. But of course I still inquired about HP but to my dismay what is common to all the shops I inquired is Acer, Toshiba, and Asus.

There was a laptop that currently matches my specifications and it was an Acer unit. It has 3G RAM, 320G HDD, built in webcam, wifi ready, and a wide screen. Looking at the price of about $1,050.00 I quite have some hesitations. So I look at others. One notable one is the Asus brand. They are good units do but downside is price. I know the built of an Asus unit has been regarded as superior than other laptop thus the pricey tag. My mind was torn between these two and I ask the retailer to give me some time to think about it.

A week pass and I was ready to buy the Acer but to my surprise it was sold a day before. Being desperate for a laptop unit to aid me in my work...I settled for an Asus laptop for $1,200.00, quite pricey yet I am confident that this thing wont let me down in my work. With its 2G RAM, Core 2 Duo Intel processor, 250G HDD and 15.2" wide screen my work and surfing experience will be up and running.
